Sending files to translators (Exchanging)

Exchanging is a process where developer or localization engineer and translator send data to each other. Sisulizer has very powerful exchange methods. There are several ways to exchange data depending on the exchange direction and translation tool that translators uses (either Sisulizer or some other tool).

Using Sisulizer as a translation tool

The easiest and fastest way to translate a Sisulizer project is to use Sisulizer. Exchanging is very easy. You just need to send Sisulizer project file (.slp) to the translator. If translator does not have Sisulizer installed he or she can download free Sisulizer Free Edition.

Sending data to a translator

You have three choices.

1. Easiest and recommended way is to send the original Sisulizer project file (.slp) to the translator. The file contains all the information needed to translate your project.
2. If you want to send a subset of your project (for example just one language instead of all languages) you have to use Exchange Wizard. The wizard creates a sub project that contains only the languages and items you want exchange. Exchange Wizard creates a .sle file that is a zip file that contains the created subset project file (.slp) and any other file you decided to include to the package.
3. This is just like #2 but instead of creating .sle file, Exchange Wizard creates .exe file that installs Sisulizer translation edition and the exchanged project file. Use this only if your translator does not have Sisulizer installed and you want to provide it with your project.

In case #1 and #2 translator needs to have Sisulizer installed. If he or she does not have it, a free Sisulizer Free Edition can be downloaded from Sisulizer download page.

Receiving data from a translator

When translator has completed the translation task he or she sends back the project file. Choose File | Exchange, click Import project file to import the file sent by the translator. You can also import project using the Import Wizard. Choose File | Import or right click column header and choose Import to start Import Wizard that lets you import translations from the file that you translator sent you.

Using some other translation tool

If your translator does not use Sisulizer as a translation tool you can not use Sisulizer project file as an exchange file. Instead you must export Sisulizer project to TMX, text or Excel file, send the exported file to translator and finally import translated file back to the project.

Sending data to a translator

Choose File | Export to start Export Wizard. Select the export file format and specify the properties. Send the exported file to the translator. You can also choose File | Exchange, click Export project and send exported file button and press OK to start Export Wizard.

Receiving data from a translator

Choose File | Import or right click column header and choose Import to start Import Wizard that lets you import translations from the file that you translator sent you.

Note! It is highly recommended that Sisulizer is used as translation tool. It is several advantages over TMX, Excel and text files such as visual editors, validations, context sensitive import/export and so on.
