Translation Engines

Translation engines is a list of one or more translation engine. It is a service that can automatically translate text from one language to another language(s). There are two kind of translation engines.

Translation memory

Translation memory is an application or a service that stores translation to a data store such a database. It can automatically translate those strings that already have translation in the database. If translation memory uses fuzzy matching it can also translate those strings that are similar to strings in the database. Sisulizer uses it own translation memory technology.

The advantage is Sisulizer's own translation memory is that you do not have to purchase or install expensive 3rd party translation memory. Everything that you need is in Sisulizer. The advantage of 3rd party translations memories is that they might have more features than Sisulizer's own translation memory and if you already have data in those translations memories you can still use data from Sisulizer. Use Translation Memory Editor to edit content of the translations memory.

Machine translator

Machine translator is an application or a service that uses extensive dictionary and grammatical rules to automatically translate virtually any sentence from source language to target language. The quality of the machine translator does not reach the same level as human translation. However machine translation is very useful feature in document translation. Sisulizer can use 3rd party machine translators such as Google Translate.

Supported translation engines

Currently Sisulizer supports following translation engines:

To get the most recent list of available translation memories and machine translators open Translation Engines dialog box and press the Add button. The list contains supported translation engines.

Note! You need to have Sisulizer Enterprise edition to use 3rd party translation memories or machine translators. Professional edition can use Sisulizer translation memory on local database (Access and DBISAM) but if you need to use server database (Firebird, Interbase, MySQL, Oracle and SQL Server) Enterprise edition is needed.

Initial translation engines

When you start Sisulizer for first time it will create initial translations engines. The initial translation engines depend on the active Sisulizer license:

You can remove the initial translation engines, edit them, and add new ones.

Translation engine dialog boxes

The following dialog boxes are used to configure and use translation engines.

Translation Engines dialog box is used to add new translation engines or to remove or configure existing ones.

When the user want to add a new translation engine New Translation Engine dialog box is show to the user to let him or her select the translation engine type and to configure it.

Sometimes a translation engine can provide two or more translations for the same string. In that case the user must select the right one. Select Translation dialog box is used for this.
